FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 3, 2008
SUNSET BEACH Ca. For the fifth consecutive year Huntington Beach California based America’s Baby Cancer Foundation has loaded Santa’s sleigh with toy’s and will be headed for Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Bellflower California December 19th. The ABCF annual Christmas party for kid’s battling various cancers and life threatening illnesses is one of the highlight’s of our year said Philis Lane, co-founder of America’s Baby Cancer Foundation. We had almost 200 children attending the event the past few years, and the kid’s really look forward to a day away from treatments and hospital life. Last year Southern California race team, “Speed Wong Racing” brought several race cars that kid’s and their families climbed into for photos and Santa Claus even strapped into the SWR late model race car in place of his sleigh to kick off the event! This year’s event will be even bigger with returning National Football League Alumni players Kirk Dodge of the Denver Broncos and Jim Weatherly of The Oakland Raiders stopping by to sign autographs and visit the kid’s!
2008 we’ve added some more really incredible people to the party, with more racers’ and their cars including the CHP sponsored Late Model, and Long Beach racer Travis Irving and some very special ladies volunteering from the National Hot Rod Association said Baby Cancer Foundation Vice Chairman Gordon “Lug Nutzz” Stewart. The racing community has been fantastic over the years, especially Toyota Speedway at Irwindale and the NHRA. Tom Compton, NHRA President made a promise to me several years ago to entertain our kid’s and their families at NHRA races and in turn we’ve really created a generation of NEW drag racing fan’s in the process said Gordon! The Winternationals are one of the most requested events for our baby cancer foundation families. For most, the day at the races is the FIRST race they have ever attended! And like me, they are hooked from the start! I cannot thank the National Hot Rod association enough for their kindness, I consider them part of the Baby Cancer Foundation family, said Stewart. Huntington Beach Celebrity Car builder Rich Evans will be bringing his “Hardcore Knight” Mustang that will be featured in a new Movie with Nicholas Cage June 2009! Having 3 healthy kids of my own, I really feel blessed to be a part of making kid’s smile for a day and hopefully inspiring some of the little one’s to become the next generation of custom builder’s when they are cured said Evans. There will be many more celebrity guests and volunteers stopping by the event December 20th from noon to 3:00pm at Rich Evans H.B. Bodyworks shop,18108 Redondo Circle, Huntington Beach Ca.
