NewsEVANS, SKULL KING CREATION RETURNS TO THE NHRA MIDWAY AT INFINEON RACEWAYSonoma, Calif. - (July 25, 2007) Custom designer Rich Evans and his popular Skull King creation will return to the NHRA Manufacturer’s Midway at the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals this weekend at Infineon Raceway, July 27-29. This weekend’s event will mark Evans’ fourth NHRA appearance in 2007, with the first three coming at the season-opening Pomona (Calif.), Phoenix and Vegas 1 races. Since Evans’ last trip out, he has been quite busy with a couple new projects, including the 2007 Ford GT Mustang project, which is set to debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November. Evans’ also appeared on MTV’s hit show Pimp My Ride, in which he and his Huntington Beach Bodyworks crew airbrushed a 1972 Hearse. Evans also shot a television pilot for A&E where he redesigned the paint scheme on an old-school tour bus, turning it into a rockin’, up-to-date Ministry Inc. motor coach. He also recently received his third “Best Paint Award” from House of Kolors. Sonoma 2006 marked Evans’ first trip to a NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event and he instantly became a fan. He struck up a friendship with Tony Pedregon and ended up designing and painting a couple helmets for TP later in the year. Evans’ was then introduced to Cory McClenathan at Pomona this year, resulting in another Rich Evans’ designed helmet out on the NHRA tour. Evans has been talking with Cory Mac about creating a special paint scheme for the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis over Labor Day weekend. After this weekend, Evans’ will make two more appearance on the NHRA circuit; Las Vegas 2, October 25-28 and the NHRA season finale at Pomona, November 1-4. Evans and crew utilize a unique airbrushing system that appears to be tattooed on the bodies of the vehicles. Evans’ is a crucial part of each project, in which he designs, fabricates and paints. Some of the projects that Evans has created include the aforementioned projects, as well as the Meguiar Semi Truck, Electric Queen, Urban Assault and Liberty. Evans, a custom hot rod designer, builder and painter, founded Huntington Beach Bodyworks in 1992 out of his personal garage. After some trials and tribulations with his business in the beginning, fate dealt him a second chance allowing him to create a successful million dollar custom design empire that now operates out of a building that resembles a medieval-style castle.
